A Blueprint to How to Start Your Own Online Business

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

Interested in how to start your own online business, but you are not quite sure where or how to start? There are many people who have tried to start their online business, but failed early in their attempts to become successful because they did not have a clear plan to guide them. A huge problem is that there is so much information on the internet that it is easy for a new student to become over loaded with information. It can almost paralyze you. I remember this well from when I first started out until I finally broke it down into these simple steps.

My plan here is to give you an easy blue print to guide you as you start out in building your new online business. So let’s get started:

1. Find a niche market that you are passionate about. When you are passionate about something it shows up in the way you write or the way you talk about it. It is much easier to sell something when you love what you are selling and believe in your product or service. A niche market is a tight, focused market of potential customers. Here is an example: A broad market would be Photography. If you were a photographer you could keep drilling down deeper in this broad market and start a niche of selling Canon EOS Rebel T2i for portrait photographers. (I am not a photographer; I only use this as an example). Now you have a very tight, targeted audience of portrait photographers who are looking for Canon EOS Rebel T2i cameras to promote to.

2. Do your research. Most important- know your market! What is it that your market needs, what solutions do you have to solve their problems? Is this market willing to spend money for what you have? How big is my market? Who is my market? Get into their heads and really understand where they are coming from. One of the best ways I have found is to get on a forum in that market and read questions people post. This can give you a lot of insight into your niche market. I f you are looking for a form for your market just Google what ever your market is (example weight loss forum - photography forum).

3. How are you going to promote your product or service to your potential customers? Free advertising or paid advertising? If you are first starting out and a little strapped for cash, start out with free advertising. Free advertising consists of writing articles and submitting them to article directories, write a lens on Squidoo.com, start a free blog and post everyday, post in forums, free press releases, and free classifieds. As your new online business begins to profit, plow the profits back into the business to help it grow bigger quicker. Start using some paid advertising; such as, PPC (pay per click advertising) or ezine ads. There are so many ways of advertising that a book could be written about each category, so we won’t go into more detail of how each type of advertising works here.

4. Keep accurate record of what you are spending compared to what you are bringing in, in profits. This is the down fall of many new online companies. It is especially easy with pay per click advertising to pay more for advertising than you make in sales. So if you are selling a product for $30.00 and your paying $0.50 per click and your selling ratio is 1:60 (1 sale out of 60 people), you are not making any money. This campaign would be a total waste of your time, so keep accurate records of everything and know your expenses.

5. Get started! Like the Nike ad, “Just Do It”! You now have your niche market, you have your product, you know how you are going to advertise, and you know your expenses- get busy. Don’t get distracted by emails, twitter, surfing, etc. This is way to easy to get distracted, so stay focused on building you new online business. As I always like to say, “Be Prolific”!

Now that you know how to start your own online business, it is important that you remember that this is not a get rich quick scheme. By being prolific everyday you will begin to see little successes, these successes will grow into bigger successes. Be patient, keep pushing ahead and you will be rewarded for your hard work with a successful new online business.

Affiliate Marketing Guide - Start Your Own Affiliate Business With This 3 Step Formula

Saturday, January 21st, 2012

The model of the affiliate marketing business is simple if you are able to understand the big picture. Generally, the model can be segmented into these few different parts:

-> Market

-> Solution (Product)

-> Traffic

The first thing that you will have to do is to know the market that you want to base your business in. You will want to do the some research so that you will be able to know the problems that your market is facing.

Once you know the problems, you will want to find the solutions so that you will be able to offer it to your customer. Are you going to promote your own product or promote an affiliate product? These are the 1st 2 things that you will have to do before you even start to create your website.

The next thing that you will have to do is to create your website. Are you going to create a content base website or you will be creating a landing page to build your own list? If you are going to sell digital products and you want to build your own list, you will want to have a simple squeeze page so that you can build your own list.

When the website is created, you will want to focus the majority of the time on doing the marketing so that you can send consistent traffic to your website. When your list starts to grow, you will want to follow up with them and promote more relevant products to them. This will ensure that you have a long term business.

Best Home Based Internet Business - Internet Business Guide

Friday, January 20th, 2012

A good Internet business guide should help you understand the common mistakes that other people had been making for the past few years in their quest to make money over internet through selling information products. Still, the unfortunate fact is that very few such guides exist that could be termed as genuine. Many self-proclaimed Internet marketing gurus turn out to be sheer cheats and the operations conducted by them elaborate scams to make themselves rich while leaving those who approach them even poorer than before. Where have all these people trying to pursue a decent earning through the best home based Internet business opportunities gone wrong?

It is time to analyze the mistakes that such people had been making repeatedly, the pitfalls into which they had fallen, and the wrong direction that they had been following. These rules of selling information products that could be termed as old or outdated had been advocated so strongly that nearly every person trying to make an online living had believed it to be the only way. Just about everyone else out there is following the old rules of the game. These old rules of selling information products as the best home based internet business had been the cause of failure for a great number of persons.

Outdated and Failed Rules in selling information products online:

Old rule #1: Find a hot market to go into…
Old rule #2: Create an information product…
Old rule #3: Write a sales letter…
Old rule #4: Buy cheap pay-per-click traffic(and send it to the sales letter)…
Old rule #5: Sell an information product…

It is true to some extent that the rules 2, 3, and 5 are valid even now and are going to be useful in future also. However, they are not going to lead you to any kind of reasonable success in best home based Internet business on their own. Lots of other new factors had crept into the market and the entire scenario had completely changed in the last few years. Before going into that aspect, let us find out why the rules 1 and 4 had been a total failure.

The reason for the miserable failure of the first rule asking you to find out a hot Internet market is that the competition had increased manifold in the last two decades in every field. The market had become so much overcrowded that the information products available on any topic that you try to imagine are not only in hundreds or thousands but in hundreds of thousands. Further, the fourth rule of using pay per click advertising for diverting traffic is being used by nearly every person, corporation, or business entity on the World Wide Web that it had become so hard to make any profit using this method. These are the reasons for the collapse of the previously extolled golden rules of Internet business guide.

It would be clear now that the rules which initially brought success had broken down, not because of their fundamental lack of validity but due to the enormous overburden that they had been forced to bear. This necessitates a new and under the radar approach that revisits the concept of best home based Internet business from a fresh point of view.

Business Professionals Change Marketing Strategies to Make Money From Home

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Today’s economy has forced the home business professional to take a serious look at marketing strategies and business opportunities that maximize their incomes to make money from home. Gone are the days of building a business by trying to recruit hundreds of people into a traditional MLM or network marketing business model, where each person has to maintain a minimum auto-ship of a few bucks, and hope a group of distributors can be amassed in time to make a sufficient income to live on.

Home business professionals are more aware of the restraints people have on them today financially and need to look at opportunities, that provide key elements for immediate success when prospecting and recruiting others as prospective business partners. The marketing strategy that any entrepreneur develops to succeed in today’s marketplace, revolves around these three integral components that must be present in order for it to work.

1. System: Today’s business model, must include a system to share an opportunity clearly with others and automatically provide all needed information and answer the majority of questions for a person looking at a the prospective business opportunity. Most people don’t know how to sell, or even want to sell, and are not willing to take the time out to learn how to, or become comfortable doing so.

If a prospective business does not include an automated lead capture system, that will attract potential candidates, looking for an opportunity, funnel them through a marketing system that includes the technology that explain the majority of the details about the opportunity for you, automatically closes the sale, and then pays you immediately, then its not the right model to participate in. Granted you may need to do some work, but more as a tour guide, guiding them through a tour, versus a high pressure sales person, going in for the kill. A business model that has a system that is replicated for everyone will almost guarantee each individuals chances for success.

2. Compensation: With today’s economy, rising prices, and uncertainty of the US dollar, any business model worth looking at must provide a handsome compensation plan, with top tier commissions which are paid immediately to the distributor. To coin a phrase that is popular, sharing a business where you “GET PAID TODAY” is a pre-requisite for immediate success and retention or prospective business partners in any home based business.

No one wants to wait to get paid, after working hard to drive traffic to their business, and promote a company or brand, or service, or product, and making a sale, wondering when the their pay will be rewarded. Credit card carriers, bill collectors, utility companies, grocery stores, mortgage payments, retailers, and gas stations don’t say come back in 30 to 45 days and pay us when you get paid. NO….. its a get paid now society and capitalistic economic system. No money, no stuff!

3. Training: Companies that have a great website, all the great video’s and flashy graphics, but do not provide any training or support are dead in the water. Most people will want some education on how to market, instruction on the products and services, ongoing support and development, in order to succeed. With today’s global marketplace, this must be provided, 24/7 so that all distributors from around the world have access to the same resources to market and train, in real time with minimal effort to access the necessary systems to grow a successful business. Any opportunity that is going to attempt to rely strictly on the marketers own ability to support their team and grow will be out of business in no time flat.

Marketing strategies that are created for any business opportunity which do not include all three of these components in it s model will eventually frustrate the most savvy entrepreneurs and they will move on to another opportunity once they see the failure without one or more of these components.

eBay Business Guides and Advice For Making Money

Tuesday, January 17th, 2012

I know you will be very excited that you are about to get your hands on an eBay business guide and get advice about making money. It has been revealed that on daily basis, about 5 million buyers visit eBay to either buy or sell virtually every minute. eBay sellers are capable of generating a profit close to $100,000. The most interesting thing about it is that no matter what item you have to sell there are already buyers waiting to buy immediately these items are posted for auction on eBay.

eBay is a term used to refer to a shopping or an auction site online, where many people are seen selling and buying a huge variety of products and services on daily basis. In this market, there is a category known as “buy it now” where you can and buy whatever you want to buy. In this same website, you can also find bidding and auction systems to help you sell your items at the best price.

Millions of dollars are been transacted every year from people running a home eBay business but without knowing and following an eBay business guide you will never be part of this great wave. In other words you unless you take action you will never grip your own share of the money being created. Some people who must have been used to this system started making money earlier with close to about $1000 per week. Don’t you think this kind of money can make a great difference in your life? Get some of the eBay business guides.

1. Proper Learning: your hope of making money on a home eBay business starts when you have learned the eBay process and mastered how everything is organized and structured. You can get this by visiting other sites that you think sell the kind of products you intend to sell. With this you will come to realize that money making on an eBay business is possible. Then investigate to know if those items are actually selling; that through online sources you will see the prices of the items and how many bidders are usually interested in these items.

2. Source for Unwanted Items: only an eBay business guide will reveal this to you. Go and scour your garage and local thrift stores for any kind of things that you are not using any longer and put it up for auction. This can be possible if you can build your own inventory by going to the garage sales. After this then you can resell them on eBay.

3. Create a Business Plan: Creating a business plan is one of the eBay business guides you should not overlook. With it you can go in and start listing. Treat this issue like a real business.

4. Also set up a Game Plan: this will enable you know the kinds of products you can sell and make the best returns, where to locate suppliers, the proper way of listing on them and other things. I assure you big money if you will consider this eBay business guide.

Five Ways You Can Start Your Own Internet Business Free!

Monday, January 16th, 2012

As with any venture, whether it be for business or pleasure, the first steps into making money online are always the hardest. My first months were very confusing, and unfortunately expensive, mainly because I was going it alone. I had no guidance in what methods were tried and tested, so I found things out the hard way. I’m going to lay out five ways for YOU to get involved with internet money making and help you start your own internet business.

1-Ebay- The perfect starting point. Most people start on eBay by selling physical items-Old books and cds, and unwanted clothing can be a surprisingly good seller. Just your old household stuff will be fine to start with. Don’t expect to make a mint, because you won’t, you’ll probably make very little, but think of this as the training slopes to starting your own internet business- this is an IDEAL way to get the hang of the eBay system and to get used to being in business over the net. Keep notes if you have to, but try and be aware and learn as much as you can as you go-this is very good practice for getting into the habit of being professional with customers at all times etc. Once you feel like you are managing this side of things well, and you feel that you know the process well enough, it’s time to move on to information products.

This is where you can make a lot of money in relatively easy fashion. To begin with, you need to obtain or create a product-it could be a guide on doing hair for weddings, or a report on how to keep your garden weed free through the winter. Aim for a minimum of around 30 pages so people don’t feel ripped off. It’s much easier than you think to write 30 pages or so about a subject which you know well, but if you do not think you can create it yourself, why not use freelance writers to complete the job? There are thousands of places to hire a freelance writer online, and I bet it is cheaper than you think. Check out elance.com to see.

Once you have the product, the rest is plain sailing. Information products are not sold like other items, because unlike physical items they can be delivered digitally. This is the magic word. Once you have a product that you can sell, everything else is basically profit, as you can supply it in the form of a PDF document via an email attachment. No postage, no manufacturing costs, just pure profit (After the eBay fees of course!). You want to aim at Buy It Now listings with multiple amounts, then you can ensure you get a fair price for each item. This is a GREAT way to earn. You will be surprised at the size of the market for informational products on eBay, and if you put the effort in you can be rewarded with a very high number of sales. My record is 73 sales of one ebook in one week-I was charging £14.99 each, so you do the math. Not a bad income for sending a few emails!

2-Affiliate Links- It still surprises me that the vast majority of people in the world have no idea this kind of thing exists-I’ll explain it as I go just to make sure that you understand what I mean. On the internet, there are thousands upon thousands of companies that will give you a commission on items bought on their site-if you provide the customers. Think of it as a finder’s fee. This is affiliate marketing. There are a million ways to profit from this, but the most simple is just linking to an affiliated product which matches the area of your website (or blog-if you don’t have a site you can set up a blog to use for the same purpose in about 1 minute flat if you visit blogger.com).

For example, if you own a website (or blog) about diets and you get a decent amount of traffic to it, you could include a link to another site selling diet pills or plans-the link would be an affiliate link with your own id embedded in it, so that when the customers click through and make a purchase, you get a commission on the sale. Easy money? It can be, very easy! Two sites I would recommend visiting are Clickbank.com and Commissionjunction.com. They are two of the biggest affiliate managers, and they operate the affiliate schemes for lots of organisations. This means that they will supply you with the affiliate links to use, and they will also track your stats and commissions and arrange the payments for you. Payments are typically monthly or fortnightly, both if you play your cards right! If you put the time into affiliate marketing, it can change your whole concept of “working” for a living. I know it did for me!

3-Google Adsense- This is not something I make a huge amount of cash from myself, but I know of people that make their entire fortunes from it. This is how it works- You know how on some websites you get those little tiny advertisements, with “Ads by Goooooogle” underneath them? Well those are Adsense ads. When people click on those ads, Google pay money to the website owner. The person doesn’t even have to buy anything; the money is just for the click. So now imagine you have your diet website, and you get 10000 visitors a day. A nice amount of traffic. If you set up some Adsense ads on your page (which is really REALLY easy to do) some of those visitors are bound to click on the ads, and you will get money for every single click. The amounts per click are typically pretty small, but there are people that create whole sites full of ads, and obviously get lots of clicks that way. If you have a website I really would recommend it, as it’s basically free money once you go through the 5 minute set up process. Visit Google.com for instructions on how to sign up for an Adsense account. You will need a website or blog in order to be accepted into the scheme.

4-Google Adwords-I know that many search engines now offer a similar service, but my favourite is always Adwords. You know when you perform a search on Google and you get the “Sponsored Results” on the right hand side? Well those are peoples’ Adwords ads. The way it works, you set up advertisements for certain things with Google and then choose certain keywords for which you would like the ad to be shown. For example with your diet website you might set the ad to be displayed every time someone searched for “the Atkins diet” and then have the ad link to a relevant page on your site. It’s a little more complicated than my simplified description, as there is bidding involved for each keyword and other factors, but that’s the basic premise. Now, how do we make money out of that? Easy. We use the Adwords ads to link to people’s products that we are affiliated to. I find that the informational products sold through Clickbank are very good for this.

I think this is because their home pages are geared very highly toward converting the sales there and then, which is a good thing for us. Now for a quick example of how we can make money from this: I’m sure there is someone through Clickbank selling some kind of diet product. With our previous diet ad, instead of linking to our own website, we could link to the sales page for the Clickbank diet product-if the page converts them to a sale, we will get a percentage of that sale paid by Clickbank in the form of fortnightly commission cheques! Some items at Clickbank will offer 50% or even 75% commission, so it’s easy to see how profitable it can be. You could easily net $1000 a month with only 1 sale a day. One downside to Adwords campaigns is that there is a lot of competition in the Adwords game these days, so it is tougher to make regular money, but if you research your keywords properly and using some of the free tools on the internet (tools.seobook.com is my favourite) you can still make a hell of a lot of money with this. For some more in depth tips on this form of making money, including how to get Google to give you FREE credit so you can begin making money without any cost, check out my site.

5-Find a “niche,” and create a site or product that caters to it. By niche I mean something online that hasn’t been done to death, and that there isn’t a million sites catering to already. For example, a bad idea for a niche would be making money online, as there is over a hundred million websites for that already. A better idea, and one that is often given for a good example of an online niche may be fly fishing. It’s a good idea to stick to your own areas of expertise or things you are passionate about when looking for a niche, as your own specialist knowledge may be what gives you the edge over the next person. For example you may be an avid online gamer, and be an expert on maxing out your stats for World of Warcraft.

There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of avid WoW players in the world-You could put your expertise down on paper and sell it as a guide called “Level 60 in 28 Days Or Your Money Back” or something like that. You could sell it for say $29.95-Who wouldn’t pay that much to get to Level 60 in 30 days? Imagine if you could sell it to just 1% of all WoW users at $29.95? That’s a serious income. Creating the product is only the start though. It’s when start considering places to sell it that things get exciting-the sky is the limit! Again you could sell it through eBay, you could start your own site to sell it from, you could even setup up some people as YOUR affiliates through Clickbank so they sell it for you and you just have to spend all the money they make you!

I hope you find these ideas useful-they are all things I have made money from, but each one is something I had to “stumble” across or work out for myself. Hopefully I have taken the guesswork out for you and you can take massive action now!

Free Guide How to Start Your Own eBay Business - 5 Different Businesses for eBay

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

There are so many ways people make money on eBay! How about a free guide to 5 different ways to start your own eBay business? Some people sell items for others and make a commission. You can also stock your own inventory or have it drop shipped! How about digital items this way you do not have any inventory to stock and ship? Selling excess inventory (but a little risky too) and you can also make some of the eBay profits, but you will need to learn some affiliate marketing and website promoting for this. So lets get started!

One way to make money, and this is how most people start is to get in touch with the real wholesaler and buy small quantities of merchandise and resell it on eBay. You can also drop ship items (so you do not have to store them) but this takes the control out of your hands. Please be very careful with a lot of Internet advertised drop shippers and wholesalers. I was burned number of times on middleman and most people starting will have that same problem! Something to keep in mind is that if they offer you a shopping type mall setting, you should run! If they have all the products in one place (such as electronics, car parts, home décor, baby items and so on, most likely they are the middleman. (This of course is different if it is niche products) meaning only baby items or barbecue items and such. The only way you will make profit online is to get in touch with the real wholesalers. Worldwide Brands OneSource Database is one I would recommend.

There are some people who sell items for others and earn commission per item. One benefit of doing this is that you really do not have any real upfront costs, but of course you may not have great profits either. But it is definitely a good way to make some extra money!

People also make money on eBay selling digital products such as eBooks. This can be a real moneymaker if you buy books that have a good content and are desirable. However, downside is that some eBooks sell for only a dollar or two, but also after your initial investment you keep almost 100% of profit. There are a lot of people doing this, so you will have a lot of competition!

You can also buy excess inventory and resell it on eBay! This is another great way to earn extra money, but I think out of all of them, this one is the riskiest because you may get stuck with the inventory that cannot be sold at a profitable price.

There is also one way to make money of eBay and actually share their profit cost. This one is called affiliate marketing. The commission you are paid (per item) is not too great, but at the same time you do not have anything to do with inventory or customers. The only difference is that for this way to make money, you have to get training on how to promote your website!

Getting Started Guide to Self-Employment: Your Business Plan

Saturday, January 14th, 2012

Why you need a business plan

You’ve heard it before, you should write a plan before you start your business. You might be wondering why that’s so important. Here are three good reasons. Writing a plan

clarifies what your business goals are so you know how to measure success, helps you spot potential problems so you can plan for them instead of getting caught by surprise, and shows potential investors or lenders how you will make the business profitable so they will be more likely to invest their money or approve your loan.

How detailed a plan do you need before you jump in and get started? That depends on two things-the amount of risk you are taking and how much outside financing you need. For example, if you are a painter that has been employed by a reputable contractor and you want to start your own business by taking some additional jobs on your own, you aren’t taking much risk. As long as you verify that you are not putting your full-time income at risk, you may be able to just start taking jobs and plan as you go. When I started my coaching and consulting business, I used a personal credit line in an amount that I knew I could pay off to cover expenses. I did some planning to ensure that I would have a good chance of success and keep my expenses under budget. If you are planning a business start up that involves significant upfront investment, you will want a more detailed plan. Even if you plan on financing the business through personal loans, a second mortgage, or your own savings, you will want to know that you are investing your money wisely and developing a plan will help you be sure of this. If you are seeking outside investors or business loans that are not secured by your personal assets, you will need to convince investors or lenders to say yes to your request with a detailed, realistic and well-researched plan.

What goes into your business plan?

The body of a well-written business plan contains:

a description of the business market information financial information, and management information

Business description

The description of your business is based on its mission, vision, and values. What will your business do and how will it generate income? Will you have employees? If so, what training, education or experience will your key employees need? Your description should clarify exactly what service or product(s) your company will offer and identify your target market. It should also indicate what business structure you will use and identify the key players in the company.

Market

After you have defined those basics, it’s time to discuss the market for your business. Who are your competitors and who dominates the market? Think about the unique strengths that will allow you to obtain a sustainable competitive advantage in serving the target market you identified above. In order to succeed, you will need to identify and build upon your unique strengths. You might want to perform a SWOT analysis to help you clarify your competitive position. A SWOT is simply a collection of lists-your strengths and weaknesses (things that are inherent to the business you plan to run) and your opportunities and threats (things that are external to your business) You should only list things that pertain to your business objective. For example, if you want to be a model, an attractive appearance would be strength. If you want to be a technical writer, your appearance is probably irrelevant. Once you’ve made your list, take it a step further. Clarify how you can use your strengths to counteract your weaknesses and take advantage of market opportunities to build a sustainable advantage over your competitors and develop a plan to overcome potential threats.

Financial

This is the most important piece of your plan. If your business is not profitable, it won’t work as a business! If it’s something you love, you can still enjoy it as a hobby. If it makes a difference in the world and you want to fund it, that’s fine. Just be realistic and recognize whether or not you can make a living out of what you plan to do. If you can’t-it’s better to know that up front.

You will start with a detailed listing of your start-up expenses. While expenses will vary depending on the type of business you plan to establish, common start-up expenses include legal work, logo and brochure design, training, and site selection and improvement. You will also include the available assets you will use to pay for start up expenses and the loans or outside capital that you will obtain. Start-up expenses, assets and funding all refer to what is needed and available before you actually start your business.

Then you will project your future income and expenses after you start doing business for the first year in a projected profit and loss statement. It’s important to be as accurate as possible here. Many businesses will operate at a loss when they first open because it takes time to build up a customer base and becomes established. That’s OK, if it’s part of your plan and you know how you will keep the business going. It’s not OK if you were too optimistic in your projections and can’t find the money to keep operating until the business starts turning a profit. When I studied for my MBA, we learned to game the system by starting with the numbers that we needed and adjusting the different income and expense numbers so the end result was a profitable “business.” That’s OK for the classroom, but it’s not really an effective or smart way to plan your business. If your projections show that the business is not likely to show a profit or that you can’t afford to fund it until it does, rethink your plan. Is there anything that you can realistically do to turn things around? If not, it’s better to look at a different business idea until you find one that works.

As you work on your profit and loss projections, give a detailed monthly forecast for the first year and quarterly forecasts for years two and three. Of course, these forecasts will change as your business grows and prospers, but they should be based on a realistic evaluation of the market and the competitive conditions your business faces. Be prepared to explain to lenders and investors where you will find your first clients and how you will establish and grow your customer base. In business, nothing happens until somebody buys something. Who will buy from you and what will you do to ensure that they keep buying?

Packaging the Plan

Congratulations! You’ve finished the hardest part of completing a business plan. If you’re a solo entrepreneur and you don’t need outside funding, you can stop planning and stop doing. If you need to convince lenders or investors to help you fund your business, you’ll want to take the time to present your plan in a professional format.. A good way to do this is to add a cover sheet and executive summary in front of the body of your plan. The cover sheet will identify your business and the key people involved in the business. The executive summary will briefly summarize your plan so an investor or loan officer can quickly determine whether or not they want to look at the details in the body of the plan. Obviously, you want the answer to be yes, so take the time to make your summary as compelling as possible. Then, attach supporting documents as an appendix at the end of the plan. This section would include things like tax returns for the owners that are funding the business and any documentation that supports your financial projections.

Now, recognize that these customers want to pay through the most convenient way, and that is by credit card. Credit card not only causes convenience to customers, it also allows you to have a greater market. Through the activation of credit card payment, customers from other countries will be able to buy from you as well.

In this guide to marketing online, I will focus on one subject, which is setting up websites for credit card payment. Basically, you have two options, one is through personally applying for your merchant account, and the other is through third-party merchants.

The requirements for merchant accounts vary depending on which country you are in and in what bank you open your account. However, initially, it generally costs more than what third-party merchants would cost you at start-up. But as you go along, the transaction fee for third-party merchants would be much greater as compared to having your own merchant account.

Third-party merchants are companies that take credit card payments in your behalf, but every transaction is subject to fees and commissions. For beginners, I suggest to choose third-party merchants instead of opening your own merchant account. First of all, you are still in the stage of experimenting whether your products would actually interest people and whether it would sell at all. While third-party merchants would cost you greater in the long run, there are third-party merchants that do not even require set-up costs. If you want your risks to be minimized, it is better to use a third-party merchant first. Only go on about having to apply for your own merchant account when you are convinced that your products have a stable, growing market.

A third-party merchant would also prove convenient when you are just starting up. While you are just getting the hang of things, you do not let petty things worry you. With a third-party merchant, you do not have to deal with the hassles of processing the credit card payments. This could let you go on selling while keeping your focus on your customers and on ways to grow your business. Again, you could apply for your own merchant account if the business has proved to be profitable enough.

You could search on the internet regarding third-party merchants in your area, and choose the best. Whether you choose to have a merchant account or settle for a third-party merchant, it is pretty evident that you have no other choice but to allow for credit card payment.
