10 Android Apps Every Accountant Should Use
And the best thing about all these apps? They’re free!
1. EasyMoney. It does just about everything except take out the garbage: a checkbook register, expense tracker, and bill reminder. Extras include a widget for your home screen, photo feature for bills and receipts, and export feature to a .csv file format. Not enough? How about graphs for income and expenses, transfers between multiple accounts, and security using a 4-digit password.
2. Cashew. A personal finance manager for the non-accountant. Generate reports, enter transactions, even use multiple currencies with the currency exchange feature.
3. IDOS—Meeting costs. Trying to figure out how much it will cost to hold that meeting with 4 big wigs and their assistants? This app will do it for you, and then warn you when the preset cost limit is approaching.
4. CashLog. An easy way to log cash expenses, with each entry assigned to a customizable group name. You can then view all kinds of neat stuff like pie charts and history graphs for how cash in that category has been spent.
5. CLEP Accounting Exam Prep. Still working on earning that CPA-certification? No problem, this app will help you prepare, with more than 100 questions and answers designed to help you take away one key point from each question.
6. Skrilla FlowCast. Aimed primarily at real-estate developers and those looking to purchase rental investment properties, this app will help you to figure out if it’s worth it to buy that property or not. Enter the relevant data, Skrilla comes up with the mortgage along with how much you stand to make on the property as a rental (or not).
7. BudgetBuddy. The best thing about BudgetBuddy is that it supports the kind of the double-entry accounting that is common to small businesses the world over. Of course, you can do all the usual stuff too: take pictures of receipts, generate reports, and manage it all via the online browser.
8. Toshl. A nifty little tool that will help you change how you spend your money or just to remember what you spent it on, this app will let you track expenses by time or tag.
9. Loan Analyzer. Anyone in the real estate or banking business will use this one on a daily basis, but anyone can use it as a tool for loan analysis. Find out payment amounts, interest, or even the loan amount needed depending on what you enter.
10. SmartVault. Use this app to manage web-based documents, then integrate them with QuickBooks. This one will only get more handy as more and more paperwork shifts online.
Honorable mention: iDonatedit is the latest offering from BMG CPAs, the CPA firm that was the first to offer a mobile accounting app on any platform. This new one tracks and values non-cash donations for tax returns, so Uncle Sam doesn’t end up with more of your money than he should.
